Parents and the community will join us as active partners in creating a positive environment and providing innovative experiences.
Vision Statement
We believe that Barack Obama Elementary School is a school where each child is recognized and accepted for his/her own dignity. We further believe that the academic and enrichment programs must be based on the needs and interests of the students we serve. Students must acquire essential skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and computer literacy to be prepared to live as productive citizens in a highly technological world. The learning environment must challenge students to achieve and to excel.
History of the School
The site for the school, 3101 Fendall Avenue, was purchased in the early 1920's and the building was ready for occupancy in September of 1922. In 1928, due to rapid growth in the Northside area, eight rooms were added to the building. Several renovations have taken place within the building, creating the present cafeteria and a larger media center. The most recent renovation, done during the summer of 1989 through 1990-91 school year, has greatly changed the building.
