Disney STAGE CONNECT Program!

Barack Obama Elementary School was accepted into the 2026-2027 Disney Musicals in Schools: STAGE CONNECT program! This program is designed to enhance performing art programs in public elementary schools through the magic of theatre! Out of 829 applications, and 388 finalists, our school was selected as one of the 200 awarded schools in the country to receive online training, show-kit materials and resources, and performance rights to direct our first Disney musical! 

We are charged with the honor to produce a Disney musical show this coming school year in Spring of 2027! 3rd - 5th grade students will experience the thrill of auditioning for a school play, rehearsing with peers, learning choreography and acting techniques; as well as diving into technical production, costume design and prop making!

Disney's goal is to give schools the resources needed to create a thriving theatre program that will last for many years. With this opportunity, Barack Obama Elementary School will strengthen their performing arts culture, and further celebrate the many talents of our scholars and the community that supports them.

We are so grateful to have been selected for this program. Our teachers are eager to learn alongside their students, and see what it takes to put on a musical! We will announce our spring musical show and details for auditioning in Fall of 2026!
