School News

Dear Barack Obama Star Students, Parents, and Staff,

I sincerely hope your 2022 is off to a great start and that you found time to rest and relax over the winter break. I know that this school year has been challenging so far, but I am so proud of the hard work that I see every day as I pass through the hallways and stop by the classrooms. We have the very best students in RPS!

In order for this school year to continue to be successful, parental support is key to your child’s achievement. I would like to remind everyone how vitally important it is for students to attend school every day. I know that the new daily schedule may have caused some concerns initially, but there has been plenty of time to adjust and numerous absences equal lost instruction time and we want our Obama Stars to shine.  Please assist us in this endeavor. The lines of communication remain open and we are readily available for assistance to ensure optimum success for students.

Additionally, BOES and RPS are still requiring students to wear masks every day. Although the school does have masks on hand for students if needed, some of same students are coming to school unmasked every day despite being given multiple reusable masks. Parents, please help assist us in making sure your child is masked every day when they come to school. Furthermore, all students received a thermometer at the beginning of the school year. If your child is exhibiting possible signs of infection, please take their temperature at home before sending them to school. The safety of our children is and will continue to be our top priority and your assistance in making sure that happens is greatly appreciated.

At Barack Obama Elementary, we strive to provide productive, innovative, and rewarding learning experiences for each student in a safe and nurturing environment. As always, please let myself or the Assistant Principal, Ms. Drye, know if you have any concerns. Thank you for your support.

Mrs. Jennifer K. Moore

Principal, Barack Obama Elementary
