Principal's Message

Dear Barack Obama Star Students, Parents, and Staff,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year, and welcome back to Barack Obama Elementary School! I am so
happy and proud to take on the role of Principal this school year and excited to be partnering with Ms.
Treena Leecost who will be taking on the role of Assistant Principal. Last year was challenging and full
of changes, but I am so proud of the hard work that all of you did to make the year successful. I
continue to be inspired by the support the administration and faculty of Barack Obama Elementary
provide to our students and their families, and how deeply they care about the learning, emotional well-
being, safety and health of your children.

We’re excited to make the 2024-2025 school year the best yet as we welcome new families and
continue fostering positive relationships with returning ones. At Barack Obama Elementary, we strive to
provide productive, innovative, and rewarding learning experiences for each student in a safe and
nurturing environment. In order for this school year to be successful, parental support will be key to your child’s achievement. As the school year begins, I would like to remind everyone how vitally important it is for students to
attend school every day. Numerous absences equal lost instruction time and we want our Obama Stars
to shine. Please assist us in this endeavor. The lines of communication remain open and we are readily
available for assistance to ensure optimum success for students. The safety of our children is and will continue to be one of our top priorities. The 2024-2025 Barack Obama Elementary Parent and Student Handbook will be posted soon and will outline our routines and procedures.

Thank you for making Barack Obama Elementary the best school in Richmond!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jacqueline Drye
