Principal's Message

To My Dearest Barack Obama School Family,

I sincerely hope you found the time to rest, relax and rejuvenate over the winter break. 2024 ended on a high note, and now it’s time to go even higher in 2025!  Always remember that we are the STARS, and we strive to SHINE everyday!  BOES is a good school, but I want us to be even better!  Won’t you join me in recommitting ourselves to making our school the absolute best it can be?  Together, we are powerful and if we stick together, our children will soar!  

Parents, your support thus far has been incredible!  Great things happen when the school and the home are in partnership! Please know that we greatly appreciate all the many ways you show up and show out for the Barack Obama Stars! Thank you for sharing your children with us!  They are the reasons why we do what we do.  

Thank you for sending your children to school daily and for impressing upon them the importance of excellent attendance. Thank you for keeping in close contact with your child’s teacher and for reinforcing at home what has been learned in school.  Know that the teachers, as well as all the adults at Barack Obama Elementary School, are here to serve not only the students, but our families too!   If you ever need us, we are here.  BOES cares about you!

If you haven’t already, please consider joining our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).  This is a great way to get involved and to meet other parents!   Our PTO is a highly active group and is visible at almost all school functions.  They work to support the school, the students and the teachers, through fundraising and other work.  All are welcome.  We’d love to have you in the PTO!  For more information about the PTO, please visit the PTO page of our website https://boes.rvaschools.net/get-involved/pto
