Posted Date: 08/31/26 (04:48 PM)

Good afternoon, Obama Community,

We are sharing a quick afternoon update on our facility progress and schedule details for the remainder of this week.

Schedule Reminder

  • Students: Enrichment activities continue at Pine Camp through Wednesday, September 2, so our teachers can finish preparing their classrooms. Students will officially return to Obama Elementary for regular classes on Thursday, September 3.

  • Transfers: Frances McClenney Elementary and Overby-Sheppard Elementary successfully welcomed transferring students today.

Facilities Updates

  • Remediation Completed: Remediation of the cafeteria and office suite was completed this morning. Air scrubbers will run for the remainder of the day, with follow-up testing scheduled for Tuesday morning.

  • Ongoing Monitoring: Work on Room 304 remains in progress. Any space that does not meet post-remediation verification criteria will remain fully sealed off for additional corrective cleaning and retesting.

  • Building Maintenance: Relative humidity monitoring, supplemental dehumidification, and secondary repairs (bathroom/floor moisture fixes, ongoing HVAC maintenance, and window/roof sealing) continue as reported this morning.

Transportation Updates

  • Through Wednesday (Pine Camp Routes): Transportation will continue following standard routes for Pine Camp through Wednesday, September 2.

    • Morning pickup for walkers riding to Pine Camp remains at 7:30 am at Obama Elementary.

    • Afternoon buses depart Pine Camp at 2:40 pm, dropping off walkers at Obama at 2:45 pm.

    • Reminder: K–2 parents must accompany their child to the bus stop in the morning and meet them there in the afternoon.

    • Families keeping students at Pine Camp until 5:00 pm remain responsible for arranging their own pickup.

  • Thursday (Obama ES Routes): On Thursday, September 3, transportation will officially revert to normal routes directly to Obama Elementary School.

Thank you for your continued patience, support, and partnership as we complete these final steps. We look forward to seeing our scholars back in the building on Thursday!

With great appreciation,

Jason
