Final PM Update

Posted Date: 09/03/26 (04:56 PM)

Good evening, Obama Community,

Today was an amazing day of learning, joy, and…Nutasha from the Squirrels! Teachers and staff have expressed how excited they are to be back home in the building, to welcome your scholars, and to get the school year fully started.

Please see below for this evening’s updates. As a reminder, this is the last daily update you will receive. As noted below, we will provide monthly updates going forward.

Facility Updates:

  • Humidity & Temperature: Relative humidity levels have remained steady throughout the day, ranging between 46% and 58%. Temperatures have remained between 72  and 76 degrees throughout the building.

  • Bathroom Access: Single bathrooms will remain closed off, as water to those specific units has been turned off to ensure we do not have any active leaks. Entrances to these bathrooms have been secured to make sure no one accidentally uses the facilities without running water.

  • Ongoing Monitoring: To ensure we do not have a recurrence of mold or any other issues, we are implementing the following ongoing measures.

    • Dehumidification: A dehumidifier is now operating in every classroom and common area, and these dehumidifiers will remain in place for the foreseeable future (at least until the new chiller is installed later this fall.

    • Temperature and Humidity Monitoring: Temperature and humidity readings will continue to be monitored daily, with a focus on ensuring relative humidity is kept below 60% in all parts of the building to inhibit mold and mildew growth.

    • Sensors: We are obtaining quotes to add humidity sensors, in addition to the temperature sensors already in every classroom unit, for ongoing and automated monitoring.

    • Additional Cleaning: The Custodial team will use COVID protocols for sanitization of surfaces. Antimicrobial cleaning products will be used to prevent future mold growth.

    • Additional Inspections: The Custodial and Facilities teams will conduct additional inspections to ensure cleaning protocols are followed, to search for possible sources of moisture, and to address any concerns immediately.

    • Ongoing Envelope Investigations: The Facilities team has already addressed possible sources of external moisture found as part of the remediation process, and they have addressed these suspected intrusion points. The Facilities team will conduct regular building envelope inspections, with a particular focus on roof inspections, window inspections, and brick/mortar water intrusion inspections, and will address any suspected points of moisture entry.

    • Continued Testing: RPS will conduct monthly air quality tests throughout the school year and report the findings in our monthly updates to the Obama community.

  • Reporting Facilities Concerns:

  • Staff members who notice any maintenance issues or climate concerns in their areas should report them directly to the school principal or the Facilities team.

Transportation Updates:

  • School bus routes have fully resumed their regularly scheduled operations as of today.

Thank you for your patience and partnership as we worked to get back into the building today. It was truly a joy to see so many smiling faces this morning, and I’m looking forward to an absolutely fantastic year ahead.

With great appreciation,

Jason
